Randlestown - Acoustic Guitar
The Randalstown, was hand-built in Ireland by luthier John Catherwood using only Irish woods for the body and neck.
The concert size body shape is inspired by the European tradition of classical and jazz guitar shapes, having a tight waist, flowing curves and a deep body to produce a focussed, balanced tone.
The beautiful ash wood body is taken from the Shanes's Castle Estate near Randlestown Co Antrim. It gets progressively lighter towards the back of the guitar, accentuating the wood that seems to flow seamlessly into the neck, which itself is inlaid with an intricate 5-piece layering of yew, ash and heartwood. The bindings are 250 year old European Yew from Bryansford, Co. Down.
The top is AAA Canadian Eastern Yellow Cedar with a three piece rosette made from Walnut, Yew and Ash.
This guitar implores you to play it, and is as easy on the ear as it is on the eye.
