D-4 Std Appalachian Dulcimer Pickup (Passive)
The D-4 Std dulcimer pickup is an outstanding pickup that combines great sound with simple and quick installation. For most installations installation is non-invasive - no holes have to be drilled and no screws used.
The D-4 Std Dulcimer pickup mounts to the soundboard of any shape of dulcimer with a little bit of special non-marring putty. A thin layer of the putty applied to the underside of the pickup attaches the piezo unit securely to the top of the instrument. The putty will not dry out and will not leave any residue on the instrument.
The passive D-4 works perfectly well and sounds good when plugged straight into any decent quality guitar amp. As with any pickup, the sound can be further enhanced with an outboard preamp. Note that a preamp will be needed for use when plugged directly into a mixer or P.A. system.

The D-4 Std comes complete with a simple 1/4" output jack assembly and is fully wired and ready to use. For most installations, the jack assembly can be mounted to the end block of the dulcimer with the supplied 3M VHB foam mounting tape so that no holes need be drilled in the instrument.
For permanent installations, the jack assembly may be affixed to the end block of the instrument with the 2 small wood screws suppled.
