In the past, many resonator pickups were either stuck onto the side of the cone (which invariably caused feedback issues) or else required the replacement of large parts of the resonator assembly (not to mention a lot of expense and probable modification to the instrument). There were also some magnetic pickups that positioned under the strings at the end of the fingerboard - but these were never particularly acoustic sounding. The RG-03 changed all that.
In passive format, the RG-03 is available with a choice of a simple endpin jack; the new Neo-Jack option - a less invasive installtion option requirig one small hole to be drilled, or an MVC stick-on jack assembly with a volume control that attaches to the underside of the existing tailpiece or the area next to the tailpiece.
The
MVC Jack Assembly is low profile at only 1/2" high. It may be mounted either from a thin stand-off plate that adheres securely to the area under the tailpiece, or directly to the top of the instrument with 3M VHB tape.
For those players who need an on board preamp, the RG-03A is the active version in the lineup and combines the RG-03 sensor with the Artist endpin jack preamp that may be run by phantom power.

RG-03: with standard 1/4" endpin jack
RG-03 Neo: with Neo jack assembly
RG-03 Pro: with MVCplus jack assembly including volume control.
