#DidYouKnow that there’s an opera house on the US–Canada border where the stage is in one country and half the audience is in another?

The Haskell Free Library and Opera House (or Bibliothèque et salle d’opéra Haskell as it’s known in Canada) is a neoclassical building that straddles the international border in Rock Island (now part of Stanstead), Quebec and Derby Line, Vermont. The opera house was declared a heritage building by both countries in the ’70s. Somewhat confusingly, the library has two different addresses: 93 Caswell Avenue, Derby Line, Vermont, and 1 Rue Church, Stanstead, Quebec.
