Delivery Times

With fewer than 50 days until Christmas we’ve received a few queries about how long will take for things to be delivered so today’s #WednesdayWisdom is about delivery times.

Our normal delivery is Royal Mail 1st Class signed for. This means it is normally delivered the next day although we always recommend leaving two days to be safe.

If you have more time and want to save a bit of money contact us for 2nd Class signed for. This usually takes 3-5 days. Some of our heavier items such as the Spring joint health supplement have this as the default option.
However, during the run up to Christmas all the postage options tend to slow down due to volume and we recommend adding an extra day.

If you absolutely must have something urgently and can get to us easily we recommend giving us a call and popping in to see us. Alternatively, we can organise guaranteed next day, timed, and Saturday deliveries. Just contact us for details.

With Christmas Day falling midweek please note that the last dates for Royal Mail guaranteed delivery fall the week before on the 20th for 1st Class and the 18th for 2nd.

Deliveries

It was a wet and windy weekend for a lot of the country and it seems many of you spent it at home shopping online.

We’re sorting out your orders this morning and will be heading off to the post office later today. You should receive your order tomorrow or Thursday at the latest.

Sadly, we don’t have the resources of the giant suppliers who can take orders up to 6pm and deliver the same day. So please bear with us whilst we support our local community and use the local post office.

As a general rule of thumb, orders received before 3-3:30pm will go out the same day. However, if there’s something you find you need urgently past this time please call us and we’ll do our utmost to help you get it as soon as possible.

Delivery Times

We’re using this week’s #WednesdayWisdom slot to explain our delivery times.

Unlike giants such as Amazon or Next, we do not have our own delivery fleet (although we do deliver in person on occasion) nor do we do the volume to make the use of a courier company economical.

What this means for you, our customers, is that if you place an order after we’ve closed The Old Dairy for the day we’ll pick, pack, and post your item the following day.  To avoid multiple trips out to the post office, we do one run per day timed to catch the last post at 4:30pm.  Yes, we know city based post offices have a later last post but we are in a rural location.

Our default service is Royal Mail first class signed for.  We are sometimes asked why we insist on a signature and, unfortunately, the answer is because of a spate of ‘lost in transit’ incidences.  Yes, we know it costs slightly more – which is why we always advise clubbing together with friends and family when purchasing small items, especially at peak times such as Christmas – but we can guarantee that you will get your item first time, on time; especially important to musicians ordering ahead of a specific gig.
