We love that many of you just pop in to see us and that, during opening hours, you don’t need an appointment to try an instrument.
However, if you want to try an instrument we would rather you did make an appointment. This is so that we can check the instrument(s) you’d like to try over in advance. And, especially with the Dupont, Lugnas, and Sanchis Lopez guitars, contact the luthier to get a range in for you to try if we don’t have them in stock.
Also, because not every member of staff is in every day, it means that we can ensure our resident expert is on hand for you to talk to. For example, if you want to talk about Schatten pickups you’d need to talk to Garry.
And, if those aren’t reasons enough, there’s an added bonus to making an appointment, we can guarantee to have some fresh milk, rather than dry creamer, and biscuits in to ensure there’s tea, coffee, and biscuits galore whilst you play at your leisure – what’s not to like.
Remember, if you can’t get to us during the week or during our normal opening hours we will open up evenings and weekends for you (staff availability permitting) by appointment.
Where circumstances allow we are more than happy to open for you out of hours evenings and weekends.
We ask, though, that you give us a bit of notice. Ringing at 2pm on a Saturday to ask whether we’ll open for you on a day when we’ve not previously arranged to be open may, sadly, result in us having to disappoint you as staff may not be available at such short notice.
As you know by now Sandarac is run by musicians for musicians and our staff are often on the road performing; which is why we’re not open regularly at weekends. With a bit of notice we can arrange for cover for the day or find a mutually convenient time
In addition, if you’re planning to visit us during the week – especially if it’s to try an instrument – we ask that you give us a quick call. There are several reasons for this request. Firstly, we can ensure we’re not out delivering orders or doing the Post Office run when you arrive. Secondly, we can get the instruments ready for you. Also, if there’s one you particularly want to try, and we don’t have it in stock, we can call the luthier to see if he has one. Finally, and possibly most importantly , we can ensure we have fresh milk for the tea & coffee and that the biscuit tin is well stocked ☕️
Today’s #WednesdayWisdom post is about our By Appointment service
As most of you know by now, Sandarac is run by musicians for musicians. It’s why we are sometimes unable to offer weekend appointments as there are occasions when everyone has show commitments.
However, it is also the reason why we offer our out of hours service for those who can’t get to use during “normal” opening hours. We understand that you may be busy, have other priorities, or are simply too far away to reach us during a Monday to Friday 9-5 norm. It’s not usual for us to keep The Old Dairy open until 9pm or open up on a Sunday afternoon for someone.
In return, all we ask is that you call us in advance – preferably a day* or so beforehand – so we can ensure the diary is clear and ensure the instruments you’re interested are ready and waiting for you.
* If you are interested in our Spanish or French instruments please contact us 10-14 days in advance in case we need to draw extra from our luthier’s workshop.
