Ordering for Christmas

St. Andrew’s Day is here meaning November has drawn to a close and we are about to enter the full on run up to Christmas so we thought we’d use our usual #WednesdayWisdom slot to remind you of the last order dates to ensure your gifts arrive in time for Christmas.

Being in a rural location, we’ll need to receive your order by 3-3:30pm to give us time to pack it and get it to the Post Office before the last post cut off time and ensure it leaves the same day.  Sadly, we’re not Amazon or Next with our own fleet of vehicles and depots where you can order up to 6pm and get it later that night.  (You’d need to buy an awful lot more from us for us to reach that level )  Any orders received after then, including overnight from our web shop, will go the next day.  Please note that, whilst we will do our best to deal with orders received late on Friday to get them posted on Saturday, if we are doing weekend Christmas Fairs The Old Dairy will be closed and the order may not leave until Monday.  We have tried to take this into account with the following recommended last order dates.

  • Friday 2nd December – Africa, Middle East
  • Wednesday 7th December – Cyprus, Eastern Europe, Asia, Far East (including Japan)
  • Thursday 8th December – Caribbean, Central and South America
  • Friday 9th December – Greece, Australia, New Zealand
  • Wednesday 14th December – Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Poland
  • Thursday 15th December – Finland, Sweden, USA and Canada
  • Friday 16th December – Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland

UK – the Post Office gives the last posting date as Wednesday 21st December for 1st Class signed for but we would strongly recommend Monday the 19th as the last truly safe date.

Of course, those of you who live within easy driving distance of The Old Dairy are more than welcome to call in and browse in person.  In which case you are welcome to arrive up to close of business on Friday December 23rd.  As always, though, we recommend giving us a quick call in advance in case we’re out and about delivering instruments or heading down to the post office.
